Do You Need A Permit To Remove A Tree?

11 / 29 / 16

There are several important reasons why you might need to have a tree removed from your back garden or from a public space. Tree loppers in Perth will be able to deal with this particular problem.

Firstly, tree roots can become overgrown and they might start to interfere with the foundations of your house. This is a rare problem, but the consequences can be very serious. If the foundations need to be replaced, then this can potentially cost thousands of dollars. Secondly, trees will need to be removed if they are dangerously leaning towards buildings or they look like they could potentially fall on people. Thirdly trees may need to be removed if they are blocking the view or blocking out light from a garden.

Trees In Public Spaces

Getting a permit for tree removal depends on where the tree actually is. If the tree is in public, such as on a footpath or in a public park, then it is illegal to simply remove the tree without a permit. This permit will be granted by the local council, and will only be issued if your application satisfied them that the tree poses a risk or is blocking out light for nearby houses or businesses.

Once the permit has been granted, the tree can be safely removed from the public space. Visit www.treesurgeonswa.com.au for tree surgery which is efficient and reasonably priced.

Protected Trees

The next types of trees that require a permit for cutting down are trees which are on Australia’s protected tree list. This is designed to protect endangered species from being felled. Preserving these types of trees allows new ones to be planted from seeds. Cutting down protected trees without the proper license could result in the local council giving you a hefty fine.

In order to avoid prosecution or a fine, it is critical that you apply for a permit to cut down the protected tree. The council will need to be convinced that the tree poses a risk to buildings, that it is encroaching on land, or that it is blocking the view and light for you.

Once the correct permit has been gained, the protected tree can be legally removed without any issues. This will mean that buildings will no longer be in danger of leaning trees and the view will not be obstructed.

Trees Which Encroach Onto Your Land

Trees which are on a neighbouring property but which are encroaching onto your land cannot be removed without a special permit. Don’t rely on your neighbour’s permission because it could ultimately turn out that the tree is protected. As previously discussed in this article, removing trees which are on Australia’s Protected Trees list could result in prosecution or a heavy fine.

You should contact the local council and inform them that the tree is encroaching on your land and is causing you a problem. Once the correct permit has been acquired, you will be able to have the tree removed.

Fuel Efficient Driving Tips

5 / 8 / 14

Can you feel the heat?! Oh yes, summer is definitely here! Time to check and tick off those in your summer activity to do’s. I bet that on top of every list of going on a vacation away from the hustles and bustles of city life, not to mention the hot weather in here!

One of the top thing to consider when going for a travel is to make sure that you will have a safe and smooth travel on the road. Your car will definitely be your companion during your entire travel so have your vehicle go through a check-up before going on a trip.

Budget is another thing to keep in mind. You wouldn’t want to push a conked out car in the middle of the highway right?! So here are some fuel efficient driving tips that you can take note of to save on your time, money and effort when going for a drive.

Regular Tune-Up. Keeping your  car’s maintenance should be on your top priority. The scheduled change oil, air-filter replacement, etc will lengthen and keep your vehicle in smooth car cycle. A fuel friendly trick and must for your vehicle.

Tire Check. well aligned wheel and  inflated tires keeps your vehicle on a smooth flow drive and saves a lot on fuel.

Use proper gasoline type. Regular or Premium?! Don’t forget to properly check what type of gas fits your vehicle. Also, don’t forget to check on which station offers discount, prices vary so definitely go to those that offer cheaper price. Here is a chart giving you an idea of gasoline prices in the Philippines.

Drive on speed limit. Don’t go high speed when driving, aside for safety as the top consideration. A high speed drive also requires a lot of fuel consumption.

Weight Check. Of course, going on a long trip or an out of town vacation would mean more  things to bring. The key is to properly check on the list of things to bring. You don’t really have to bring your entire closet in with you in the car don’t you?! 🙂 Just keep and bring the essential things. This will not just save on space but also lighten the load of the car.

Buy a fuel efficient car. If you have the budget or aiming to buy a new car, choose those that are fuel efficient like the Hybrid/Green cars that are now doing raves in the car industry and  Carmudi PH offers those type of car.

You see, here in the Philippines our lawmakers has passed on the House Bill 5460 that aims for the “widespread use of hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles in the country and thus lessen dependence on imported fossil fuel”  It’s a good thing that many people are getting more environmentally aware of the effect of the use of vehicle.

Happy Driving!

House Cleaning 101

10 / 16 / 13

How do you clean your house? For us, I do have a schedule for house general cleaning. Once a month, I make it a point to keep every nook and spic and span! But of course, having two very active kids in the house- my 9 years old Grade four daughter and 7 years old grade one son, it is but a challenge to keep things in order.

For daily basis of cleaning (cleaning things out religiously everyday) would include;

  • sweeping the floor, dusting off appliance and furniture like the top of our refrigerator which holds off our most of our coffee essentials like milk  and coffee containers, electric kettle, etc. So it really needs some wiping every now and then to keep it clean.
  • cleaning and wiping the bed headboard, it needs dusting off everyday.
  • washing the dishes (3x times a day every after meal) we don’t have dishwasher so off we need to do cleaning immediately.
  • emptying the trash, we see to it that trash cans are emptied out every night to avoid rats raiding our trash bins. lol!

For weekly schedule would include:

  • Doing our week’s pile of laundry every Saturday or Sunday. I do wash our undies everyday (every night) and kid’s school uniform (every other day).
  • Bathroom cleaning schedule. brushing off the wall and floor tiles, thorough disinfection of toilet bowl (Though I get to clean it on daily basis) changing shower curtain.

Of course, thank goodness to my cleaning supplies as I really get effectively clean out the mess at home. One more tip is to use environment friendly and natural made cleaning materials and supplies for the safety of you and your family’s health. Going green is the key to a clean and healthy environment.

No Plastic Day at Grocery

10 / 16 / 13

PA020001

So off our grocery items into a box. It’s a good thing that most grocery stores are implementing the no plastic bags day, although in Q.C it’s a totally no plastic bag use everyday. It was hard to adapt in this kind of set-up at first, but considering the good effect of this in our environment in the long run is worth the  effort.

I used to hear quirks and nasty remarks  from most of customers who lined up in the cashier and demands for a plastic bag. There’s still really a need for educating these people, keeping them aware of the effect of the use of plastics in our everyday living. Sure we know that plastic bags are more convenient to use, but we should really find other means for keeping our things in a eco-friendly ways.

In my experience in doing grocery at SM Savemore store in Q.C, you will be asked to hand carry items or opt to pay an extra P2 (two pesos) for the use of a plastic bag. Seriously, I find the two pesos “mahal” for a plastic. Hahaha!

PA160019

I personally keep an “eco-bag” in my bag, the one that can be folded as small as this: PA160021
so I am prepared whenever the need for extra storage arises. My SIL  also sends us a lot of eco-friendly bags from Australia, different kinds and sizes. It’s just one small way of contribution to lessen the use of plastic that are harmful to the environment, but if all of us will do that one small way, it would be ONE BIG HELP FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
