Holiday Events

12 / 28 / 12

One of the things I look forward to during the holiday season is attending different events and party. Of course, good food and good ambience are on top of the things that we keep note of. Not to mention the nice concept and design of every events that we went to.

A nice table set up with those table skirts from premiertablelinens.com really adds up to the mood of the event. It would really make you go back to either have a photo op or get some foods again 🙂

Holiday Vacation Mode

12 / 24 / 12

We were finally done with our last office working day for the year last Friday, December 21. We’ll be back next year, January 3. So I am now rushing out on some online tasks to be on full blast holiday mode until after Christmas.

I’ll be spending time offline starting tonight to celebrate Christmas with family and the whole day tomorrow to visit some relatives to greet them happy holidays. 🙂

Yesterday, my sister and her family together with my niece visited us. Kids are pretty excited to see their cousin Dwyane, it’s been a long time since they saw each other.

The little boy on the other hand has a slight fever now. I hope it’s nothing serious and that he’ll be fine soon.

DH will be cooking Carbonara for our potluck share for the Noche Buena tonight with my Ate I’s family.

Advance Merry Christmas to you all! 🙂

Hello Long Weekend!

10 / 31 / 12

Today is our last working for the week and for the month of October. We’re all looking forward to the long weekend, four days (three days for others who have work on Saturdays) off from work in lieu of the All Saint’s and All Soul’s Day.

So I need to finish off today all of my pending tasks in the office. I also need to plan ahead my schedule for four days just so I won’t waste time and end up not accomplishing any worthwhile activity.

I hope to accomplish these in four days.

Offline

  • General cleaning of our room
  • Laundry
  • Fixin’ kids school things
  • Organizing our closet
  • Visit to the cemetery

Online

  • Blog updates, theme makeover
  • Photo book making – I really hope I can catch up on this!
  • PC clean up- back up photos, organize and delete unwanted files, etc.
  • Finish all of my pending online assignments

I hope to deliver on these and of course spent sometime for rest and unload stress. Hope you all had a fun and spooky Halloween!

Holiday Rush

12 / 15 / 11

We’ve been very busy this week. DH is getting sick already as he is the one being pressed with the deadlines for the kid’s school Christmas program. We were able to buy the kid’s gifts for their Christmas exchange gifts. This Friday will be the little girl’s party in the morning, then they will be rushing off to the little boy’s Christmas party program at 2 o’ clock in the afternoon, he will play the role of Shepherd again this time. DH has to get his Shepherd costume this morning. Hope that he’ll be able to get it this time as he’s been going back twice already but he was not able to talk around with the person in charge.

Then, we will be going to City Garden Hotel in Makati at 7 pm to attend DH’s niece 18th birthday celebration. It’s a jam packed Friday for us. Hope that kids won’t be cranky by then since they will be both very busy the entire day. For our company Christmas party, it will be this weekend. We still have to do some last minute shopping. Hope we’ll be able to deliver on all these things.

Holidays with the Kiddos: New Ways to Decorate Christmas Cookies

12 / 11 / 11

A Guest post by Melissa C.

After all the years hard work, after shopping for Mario party supplies, blowing out birthday candles, taking the kids to soccer practice, and making dinner, the holidays are here. The truth is, in many ways we celebrate the holidays more for our kids than we do for ourselves. We want to create family traditions that will survive generations, and we want to take the seasonal opportunity to bond with our little ones. Every December, thousands of families get together to bake and decorate sugar cookies. Decorating sugar cookies may already be a tradition in your family. This year, get the kids in the kitchen and try out some new sugar cookie decoration techniques to add new fun to a family tradition.

– Chocolate Sugar Cookie

Chocolate junkies will appreciate this chocolate version of the traditional sugar cookie. Simply incorporate cocoa powder into the dough mixture with flour and your dough will turn into a nutmeg-mocha brown. Add a touch of cinnamon to the mixture as well for taste. After refrigerating the dough, roll out into sheets on a powdered countertop, using not flour but cocoa as the substance which prevents the dough from sticking to your rolling pin. Now that’s good!

– Stained Glass Windows

For those who like hard candies, you can make a gorgeous stained glass look on your sugar cookie by crushing up tiny candies and putting the pieces in the middle of the cookie dough prior to baking. Watch these cookies closely, though–you don’t want the sugar to burn!

– Black & Whites

Try this sugar cookie spin on a traditional favorite by making Christmas black and whites. Simply melt chocolate chips in a double boiler on low heat. Be patient, chocolate should not melt right away. Stir gently until the chocolate is fully melted, and then dip circular sugar cookies into chocolate, halfway covering the cookie. You can leave the half-dipped cookie as is, or you can put red and white sprinkles or candy canes on the melted chocolate.

The sugar cookie tradition never gets old, especially with decorating tricks like these. Keep your tradition fresh by incorporating these new tips into your holiday festivities.

What’s Your Holiday Personality

12 / 7 / 10

Your Holiday Personality is Spiritual

It doesn’t matter if you’re religious or not… the holidays carry deep spiritual meaning for you.You like to take this time to reflect on your life.
You act deliberately and conscientiously during every day of the year – and even more so during the holidays.

While you like giving and getting gifts as much as anyone else, you do your best not to overspend or overconsume.
You also take time to connect with the natural world during the holidays- whether that means playing in the snow or planting your Christmas tree.

Christmas Cards

10 / 28 / 09

Waking up in the morning makes it hard for me nowadays, I could now feel the cold breeze that signals that Christmas and holiday season is just around the corner. It’s now another time of the year to celebrate Jesus birthday. We’ve been through a lot these past months, some weren’t able to move on yet, but we have to face life’s reality and move on.

I am now starting to go over my lists of activities this holiday season, haven’t bought any gift yet as I am not done with Gabby’s Christmas party preparations because they will be having a little program. I need to get the names of her classmates and teachers as we’ll include christmas cards along with the gifts that the little girl will give them. A personalized christmas cards will be nice like the one that I saw from christmascards.uk.com as they have a wide variety of products that you can choose from. Depending on the theme you want, you will definitely find one that will suit your taste from classic to contemporary up to funny Christmas cards. You can even add up photo of you and use your own wordings to give that personal touch. Who says that giving gifts need to be costly?! You can never go wrong doing with the now more high tech way of sending Christmas cards.

Happy Friday!

12 / 19 / 08
I am about to make an entry for my “The Week That Was” but my hands are so full right with lots of deadlines to meet here at the office since our work schedule is up until Tuesday only. (will try to do it by tomorrow) We still have to go back on the 29th to have a general cleaning. hmm. I wonder what it is to clean here? anyway, work sched. will resume on January 5th on next year. That’s why I am too excited on my *holiday mode* LOL. There are many activities and events to attend too. I hope and I will do my best to allot time to update both of my blogs as not to forget to grab some online assignments too. Need to replenish for the holiday expenses. hee. We are hoping to receive our 13th month pay and bonus today *crossing fingers*. So that will have a shopping spree for kiddos dresss and gifts. ( Oh how I miss to shop around!) 😉
