A Sweet Treat For Friends: Homemade Ube Cake

Last weekend was the scheduled meet up with my fellow mommy blogger friends. This time, DH suggested that I gave them something special as I didn’t gave them any token/gift during our two previous meet ups. Now you know that the hubby is sweeter than I am because I was just thinking/ availing of the gift ideas to buy that I can find in a gift store

We even thought that it wouldn’t push through because my SIL informed us that there’s a lack of ingredients for the cake and that she won’t be able to bake for us. Good thing that there is still a week for us to prepare and buy the ingredients and she can bake it along with the preorder cakes. P8310026

I brought along three petite cakes for each one of them. Good thing I have a sturdy eco-bag that perfectly fits in for the 3 boxes of cake. Commuting via public transport wasn’t really a problem at all. 🙂 One of the mom got sick and wasn’t able to make it to the meet up, so we had the other cake for dessert during our lunch date.

The Ube cake is a specialty of hubby’s late mom. It is the usual sweet staple in every family gatherings and occasions like Father’s Day and Birthday. I am so glad that they liked it! 

A Flashback of Memories

I sound so sentimental these past few days and maybe its because I still have the hangover from our sort of reunion with my childhood friends last weekend. Who would not if it really feels so light and nostalgic as you bring back those happy memories of your childhood, makes you want to be child once again. It’s been quite awhile since we last saw each other because of our busy schedule. Good thing that our plans push through despite the limited time we have as one of our friend needs to go back to Taiwan for her scholarship.

We really had a blast, catching up on each others lives. there are just too many updates that we need to share and the highlight of course is the great conversation as we reminisce our childhood memories, good thing our friend was able to keep some of her collectibles and memorabilia since our childhood days. She was able to preserve those Dolls that we used to play when we were young, my daughter wanted to take the doll but I told her that it has a sentimental value to her god mother so she could not take it. Good memories are indeed a keepsake to cherish forever.

Childhood Friends

Its such a delight to go back and reminisce your childhood memories, and what makes it more colorful is getting in touch with you childhood friends. After years of not being able to get in touch, though we all still remember each other by heart. Catching up on each others lives and looking back into your childhood memories makes you feel like a child once again. The youth in you will glow and blossom as you take the flashback and bring those memories again. To my childhood friends, Grace, Leo, Maying, Jeanette, Joseph, Mecal, Mitchelle, Lovella. Hope we could have a grand reunion once again in the near future, this time with our families as well. 🙂

My Something Purple experience…

I’ve been blogging for 7 mos. now and I must say that It has been my comfort zone where I can freely express how I really feel. I also learn a lot whenever i blog hop. Seeing others’ opinion & views in different way. Those SAHM Mom & Working Mom’s who finds time to blog despite everything. Friendships blossoms through blogging, learning a lot from their posts. Seeing their family and sensing ones moods or emotions on their posts. Oh! What blog hopping can do…

And from hopping in from one blog to another, I stumble upon Something Purple’s Blog. Where it really catches my attention for I find so many interesting topics and enjoyed reading her entries beacause palagi siyang updated! ahaha.. right there and then, I have been frequenting her blogs already. This is one of those first AWARDS that I receive from her. As I always tell her how I admire her multi tasking abilities …err. powers pala to do all her obligations as a mom and wife, and also for being a diligent and impressive student!
