Dealing with my problems

10 / 3 / 08
And so I thought that I am having a great week ahead of me.well, I was wrong! even the item that I’ve been longing for to have is giving me a lot of headache and so I give up on that already. Maybe it wasn’t really for me. I was bombarded with lots of problems that I thought I am going to lose my senses. Crying is the only way for me to release the heavy loads inside me. Good thing I have my children who keeps my senses and is a great source of my strength and inspiration aside from frequent conversations with the dear lord. Oh yes, what a marvelous way of unloading the burden by just having a deep prayer.
  • I pray for god’s enlightenment towards Ian’s decisions. Please do guide him always and let him see things in a lighter and brighter point of view, take away the hatred he has in his heart. may he be able to forgive others and learn to accept the reality and be more considerate to other’s feelings and condition.
  • I pray for my children’s health and for them to be always safe and away from harm. and I thank God that they are growing up well.
  • I pray for my mother’s condition now, my sister called me up last night she was chilling and vomiting before she was rushed to the hospital. Will have to check on her later after office, since I need to wait for my salary today to be released. Oh poor me.. 🙁
  • I pray for God’s strength for me to hang on and be able to face life’s challenges.

On a lighter note, this has article has helped me a lot.

DEALING WITH PROBLEMS
When cornered by problems, lost in the dark abyss where nothing seems to help, there is still a way out. For problems may not be in our hands, but handling them skillfully is. Here are some tips for effective problem solving from a Tibetan master
Saints, philosophers, achievers all agree that problems enrich life as much as victories and happiness. What is important is to not let them intimidate you, and develop the skill to use them to empower the self. There are many ways to do this, ways that help you overcome your worst fears and problems. Some are suggested by Tulku Thondup, an adept of the Nyingma branch of Tibetan Buddhism, in his book The Healing Power of Mind.

AVOID
An important thing about problems is to try and avoid them if they seem mild or temporary.

Says Tulku: ‘‘If we don‘t mind these problems, they will go away.‘‘ When you are not ready to face problems, it is best to avoid them. Only when you know you have the mental strength should you try to resolve the problem or release it through meditation.
On the other hand, if you are one of those whose minds are strong and who have a great deal of pride, it would be helpful to feel deeply the pain brought by the problem. This will help get rid of some of the pride by facilitating a connection with the very core of life, thereby focusing attention in the right direction.

RECOGNIZE AND ACCEPT

Recognizing and accepting one‘s problems in the right spirit is imperative to begin the process of healing. While some problems are evidently unimportant, others need to be faced in their totality. It often becomes a habit with us to push away problems that seem insurmountable, forgetting that they will reappear, maybe in a more destructive form. Identifying a problem clearly is the first step to dealing with it. If committed to solving it, each problem will appear easier to deal with and it is possible that those that we thought permanent and irresolvable will vanish.

FIND THE SOURCE

Now that you have the right attitude, it is time to begin the process of dealing with your problem. Begin with trying to find the source. To understand the problem, sit in a comfortable, quiet place that affords few distractions. Relax your body and quieten your mind. Breathe deeply, and imagine all your worries being released with the out-breath. Feel peaceful, clear and spacious. Allow yourself to be in that peace for a while. Then slowly, look at the problem you are facing. See it and also feel it. Acknowledge its presence.
Tulku Thondup also suggests retracing one‘s steps and going back in memory. Think of how the problem may have begun. Go back to the earliest possible time, place and source of the pain. See the possible shape, color, temperature and location of that place. As we begin contemplating the causes and feeling them, our healing has begun.

FEEL THE PROBLEM

See your problems objectively without pre-labeling them as negative. If you feel sad or wronged, even small issues could seem big. While healing, no emotion needs to be denied. Allow your feelings to surface so that they can be released. If there is emotional pain, it indicates the impact this shake-up is having on you. So it is good to cry as it releases mental stress, physical pressure and chemical toxins that build up when we hold back pain. Express naturally and frankly without grasping, hiding or defending the pain. Allowing grief its natural space to heal will finally lead to it running its course, says Tulku.

CHANGE PERCEPTIONS

Constantly dwelling upon a situation will make you suffer. Seeing a problem as negative, constantly thinking and talking about its severity makes even small hurdles seem insurmountable. Despite everything, remember to be gentle with yourself.
All this is about perceptions then. Avoid disharmonious words. When you generate strong positive energy, it can help cease, or at least ease suffering. Make friends with problems. When difficult emotions come, you can ask them what they want. You may need to relax and stop grasping, to take better care of yourself and recognize your true needs, or to change your behavior.

CLEAR MENTAL GARBAGE

A major goal of spiritual practice is to clear our minds of the intellectual and emotional garbage we have collected since childhood, so that we can provide space for true relaxation and enjoyment. Tulku warns that while positive thoughts become nourishment for the mind, negative views and passions have toxic effects. It is important to make a determined effort not to let our mind dwell on problems as negative. Occupy your mind with something else-reading, gardening, or painting. They are often the anchors that see people through their problems.
When feeling overwhelmed by sadness or loneliness, you can merge in the openness of the sadness. Allow your breathing to become relaxed. Instead of trying to push the sadness away, or labeling it as `bad‘, stay where you are mentally, open but calm. Feel your sadness without grasping or judging, just as it is. Relax and merge with the feeling, lose yourself in it, space into space.

FIGHT PHOBIAS

In the case of phobias, the problem is fear of fear, the tightening grip of the mind that magnifies and multiplies an original fear until the mouth dries up, the throat closes, and the body shakes. Under such circumstances, meditations and positive visualizations can help. Welcome the fear. Relax your body and breathing, and allow the fear to rise up. Experience it; try to be open to it. If the body shakes, allow it, let go of the wish to push this away, but at the same time maintain relaxed breathing.

Goodbye Quiapo…

9 / 18 / 08

Photo above has been my favorite part of the house in Quiapo. I’ve lived and basically grew up there, spent 17 years in this house with full of happy and sad memories; just like being in love and brokenhearted, one has to leave and move on…  I remember how it breaks my heart and a heavy feeling when I left the place and transferred to Mandaluyong.

Now, time has come that my parents will be totally moving out there. No matter how “bulok” it is, still it has created an impact on who I am right now, the memories of our stay there will be forever remembered and cherished. I am a totally “batang Quiapo” but not a madurukot huh?! hehehe.

I graduated from Quiapo Parochial School- elementary and high school. It was run by the Sisters of St. Paul then, I remember how our principal would always regard us as the Paulinians. Oh diba?! and even sings the Paulinian hymn.. “Hark sons and daughters of St. Paul”  But Quiapo Pachial School had to change its name into  Black Nazarene when something controversial happened ( i guess)  after I graduated there and is now under the administration of the Quiapo Church and no longer handled by the sisters of St. Paul.

Sabi nga nila, Quiapo daw is the counterpart of Tondo. I know, many stories has been said about Quiapo, the famous movie of late Fernando Poe Jr. and Maricel Soriano. If you want low priced cameras, just look for Hidalgo street near the Quiapo Church and beside the church are those vendors selling herbal medicines.. Oh well, I remember before I was pregnant with gabby as SH and I were passing by the quiapo church, one vendor approached me and said ” Ma’m CYTOTEC ka? ” I was like, “Hellllo??? Mukha ba akong magpapalaglag sa laki ng tiyan ko? I was eight mos. pregnant then. Ian couldn’t help but laugh out. And the ever famous line whenever you pass by the Muslim area in Barbosa street, “Dibidi, dibidi, dibidi” .

And this I will truly miss every year…

” Fiesta alay sa Mahal na Poon ng Nazareno”

But we will still be present there every year in devotion to the black Nazarene… No matter what happens. Quiapo will always be forever in my heart.

My kids needs comes first… Good thing I was able to take a nap after finishing my laundry and here I am online trying to see if can grab some blogging tasks and do my rounds of EC dropping while kids are having their afternoon sleep. 🙂

My Wish and My Mom

9 / 1 / 08
Got a call from my mother 5 minutes ago . I felt so nervous upon hearing her sobs from the other line… I thought something terrible happened, My mother is so emotional at even the slightest things happening, most especially on problems. The conversation goes:

Nanay (Mom): Hello des?!
Me : O’ bakit? anong nangyari?
( Oh why? what happened?)
(I called up Ian, and borrowed 2,500 pesos from him to pay L’s tuition fee. I don’t really have money now, I asked D to go to your brother to borrow for the payment of electricity bill. Will Ian lend me?)
Me : Oo sige, ipakuha mo na lang pera para makabayad ng tuition si L.
(Yes, ok! just ask L to get the money to pay her tuition fee.)
Nanay: 2,500 hiram ko hindi 250 ha?!
(I am borrowing 2,500 pesos and not 250 pesos huh?! )
Me : Ok.

LOL! Si nanay talaga komedyante.
(LOL! she knew as well that I don’t have enough savings that’s why she’s confirming if i have the needed amount)
Good thing that I was able to withdraw my earnings from paid blogging last week, I have been saving up to buy something I am really longing for to have. Actually, we were just waiting for my *wish* to arrive anytime since Saturday, but for some reasons I don’t know and I don’t understand up until my mom’s call “It” didn’t came. And in situations like these, I am willing to give up my *wish* and chose the “real” thing. After all, she’s my mother! right?!
Though I’m still keeping my fingers crossed to get hold of that *wish* I’m longing to have. LOL! It is so dear to me that I know I still have 114 days for him to give and deliver it to me

hope that bulk contains one of my *wish* LOL.

To swim or not to swim!

4 / 8 / 08

Yesterday, the temperature hit 36.3 degrees Celsius! I really can’t sleep well and i did take a bath for 4 times. If only we have an aircon at home, there’s no problem. but we don’t have! So we’re thinking of setting up the pool to splurge in and enjoy! but filling up this pool with water would take 3 to 4 hours. meaning, it would equal to a higher water bill. LOL! but no amount of money can buy your family’s happiness right?! and it would be boring to just play indoor games as it is really getting hot nowadays. we’re also thinking of having a swimming party on Gabby’s 4th birthday since we really don’t have that enough budget for a big party.

Summer Activities

4 / 6 / 08

We are thinking of what summer activity will be having for the two kids and for the whole family as well, but we don’t have enough money to enroll them in costly summer activities as wer’e saving up for the enrollment this coming June. And there are so many expenses that we will be incurring as Gabby will be turning four this April 27 and Nicco turns three next month on May 24. I’m thinking of just letting Gabby take her summer class in writing or just teach her by myself during my free time. I might resolve to the last one! Hahaha! Summer i think is more of a chance for the whole family to bond, as there are other ways to do without indulging in too much expenses right?! being together at the house playing around is more enjoyable. guess we’ll just have the inflatable swimming pool set up right at the comfort of our home and invite some of their cousins to play with them. having the kids learn new things makes them more excited and will become more confident about themselves.

Our Loud and Happy Moments

4 / 3 / 08

So quiet when they’re asleep… Gabby wants to have pillow on her legs when she sleeps. Nicco sleeps between me and Ian. Siksikan kami on a queen size bed because Gabby doesn’t want to sleep on her own bed yet.

Playtime before bedtime!

Horsie-horsie!

Look at how kulit these two kids… grabe talaga! as in I have to shout so many times just to caught their attention… and Daddy was the kunsintidor and sometimes the pasimuno for their kaguluhan, but it really feels so good seeing your loved ones enjoying right?!

My Cowgirl & Groovy Son

1 / 21 / 08

I had a hard time focusing on their faces while capturing this frame for them. nakakatawa kasi inis si Gabby sa kakasabi ko ng don’t move! smile ka lang! hahaha!! but it did turn out so cute naman..
Nicco, since birth has thin hair, so he was always called kalbo by others. they would always regard him as” Nicco Boy the Kalbo boy”.

Meet my Family

1 / 16 / 0810 / 9 / 24

Ian, my husband and our daughter Gabby, who is 3 years and 9 months old, is currently in nursery and absolutely loves school. Our little boy, Nicco, is 1 year and 8 months old, and he’s just the cutest! We feel incredibly blessed to have these little angels in our lives.

They have truly given our lives more meaning. Being parents has made us aware of the responsibilities we now carry. We’ve experienced ups and downs in our relationship, but I’m so proud that we’ve managed to overcome all the challenges together, hand in hand. With God at the center of our lives and Gabby and Nicco inspiring us, we are committed to building a happy and united family!
