13 Years of Blogging and Online Existence

4 / 15 / 21

I could still remember how I started my journey in blogging. I was sitting in front of our office computer just browsing the internet. I was thinking how I could be more productive and earn online when done with my office tasks.

I typed in Google “How to earn money online” I remember being redirected to a personal blog then. I am quite amused how the author have documented her daily life and I landed on a specific blogpost of her explaining how she earned income out of doing her passion for writing. I never really had a thought then of what is blogging all about. I just read her daily updates and it led me to create my very own ‘blog’, I registered to a free domain platform.

See how I hit my first blogpost back then. With all the wrong grammar and improper use of punctuation and not wary on when to use capital letters.

See how it seems like I’m just sending an sms to myself. Haha! I did not edit it to correct as I wanted to see how I fair through the years.

I have gained online friends which I have most met personally and been in touch with them up to this date! Looking back, blogging has been my comfort zone, it also serves as my ‘tracker’ for each of my kids milestones through their growing years. From their toddler years until now that they have fully grown up and in their teenager years.

Back in the day, there are many ways on how you get to find your niche in the so called of blogging and how to increase readership and community to build in order to support each other.

Blog hop, tagging, commenting and exchanging links are just some of the few activities bloggers do in order to increase your blog’s authority, leaving blog links in order for each other to visit and read each others blog as the usual activity that keep blogger’s busy then. Has anyone still remember Entrecard?

I remember paying about $5 to have my entrecard made in order to jibe with my blog’s template then, it’s some sort of your blog’s business card as widget on your blog. Seems like a networking where you get to visit each other and drop your card to them and earn some points and credits which you can use if you want to advertise your blog on other site.

Then comes along the so called blog meme! You get to answer questions and post on your blog and tag along a blogger friend to answer and pass along to others.

One you have ‘established’ your website/blog, you can try to apply to different paid blogging sites where you can earn on the side while blogging. There are a lot of numerous paid blogging sites then. I can name a few and this has been for sometime as source of blogger’s excitement. Then the rise of the black hat and white hat of SEO.

In order for you to get a lot of opportunities, your blog needs to get a good ranking in Google PR (Page rank) Every blogger’s nightmare is getting the 0 for every update. Haha! I think the highest I got then was Google PR 3. Everyone gets excited and proudly post a badge of it in the sidebar ads! Google pagerank 10 would represent only the most authoritative sites on the web. I couldn’t remember who had it then.

It also came to a point where I have lost the ‘ blogging momentum ‘ and would be in a ‘blogging hiatus’ But I would still come back ever once in a while and as I kept to myself that I won;t give up ‘My Life in this Wonderful World’ online.

After more than a decade, blogging has evolved in so many better ways, hence the birth of the Influencers era in the past 3 years (not quite sure exactly when). Then everyone and even bloggers has created their very own ‘Vlog’.

From ‘blogging’ to ‘vlogging’ and everyone has now been raving and creating their own spaces in this new season of online existence. From way back then as known bloggers to becoming now as known influencer such as vlogger and youtuber. The now growth of FB pages, Instagrammers, Tiktokers and the likes!

The engagement of the followers is what really make these influencers paves way to their success. Their dedication to keep up and engage in a way they give their followers benefits of knowledge, products and services. Making them feel not just a typical fan but of the same level of closeness you give to your family and friends.

The more reason I want to keep going and hoping to more years of my existence in this online world we live in now.

New Notebook

10 / 11 / 17

Or should I say a new second hand notebook. haha! Finally, after two years when our personal computer (desktop) died. We did even tried to revive it a year ago by spending about $75 to buy a memory and motherboard, but it still didn’t able to make it. We gave up.

I had to gave up on blogging for quite awhile. I also did let go of My Online World website. I almost lost this website but thanks to my blogger friends who did lend me some PayPal funds to recover this blog. I just really can’t let this go. This is my online haven and it would really break my heart if I’ll lose My Life in this Wonderful World.

If you can still remember when I resigned from work almost three years ago and did try to venture in the food business with DH at home. Then stopped when he got sickly and started my  journey on finding a new work and ventured into the BPO industry.

It was quite a struggle on the first few months or for quite a year I must say. A mixed of many things that happen in between my job, family and personal thing. But were so glad we were able to surpass it all.

So much for the side story. Hee! DH and I went this morning to look around to buy a notebook.  As much as I want to buy a brand new, funds were not enough. Good thing, we were able to find this.

Loving My New Blog Theme!

3 / 27 / 15

Finally, I was able to change my blog theme after three years! Hooray! This time around, I am so happy to find the one that I have been long looking for. First, a minimalist design. Second, It’s a free theme! Third,  I was able to pull off a blog header that I made myself with the help of Angie’s simple “How to Design a Blog Header” Tutorial. 🙂 I downloaded some of her free flower clip arts and voila!

mylifeinthiswonderfulworld
credits to angiemakes.com for the water color flower clip arts. So girly and pretty!

I’ll be tinkering on the font colors next time. For now, I am loving everything here around- it feels homely and this is how I really wanted it to look like. Clean and minimal.

On the side note, our kitchen is close (again) and we will be reopening after Holy Week. So this is the reason why I had the luxury of time to surf around the net. haha! But I am also crossing my fingers that come the month of April, our business will bounce back up again! It has been quite a struggle for both Ian and I because our finances have been depleted since last month. But God is so good that he kept on providing us all that we need every time that we ran out of everything. For the many chances that he never fail to give us, we are so grateful!

I am yet to decide if I really have to go back to work, I mean an 8-5 working job to get a fix salary to augment our income. OR should I stay home still and help out in the Kitchen?! I have been long wanting to just stay at home and be with the family just like our situation now. BUT, the kitchen’s income is not enough to cover all the expenses- bills, bills and more bills! Actually, I am really praying hard to find a home based job. So I can still take a look over at home and the kids while working. I’ve been through a lot with my seven years working experience away from home- the hours of commute, people at work, the terrible weather, freakin hot summer season and the flood during the rainy days. Yes, the FLOOD! I don’t want to deal with them again anymore. Haha!

I know, God will grant me what’s the best for us!  Be it a work away from home or a work based at home, it doesn’t really matter now. For as long as there is work. Ok, so much for the word WORK. haha! I know, God is working on it. 🙂

New Theme Again

4 / 22 / 12

new theme

Finally, I found a theme that’s easy to tinker with 🙂 Layout is easy to customize with lots of options to choose from. Very friendly to those who are not so into html’s and CSS codes like me. 😀 For now, this works for me well and got no plans on changing it anytime soon. Not unless I have the budget to buy for a minimalist style design template with all the ideas I I want to incorporate in the blog theme. I love it that I was able to use my old header and was able to pull my blog title into it. 🙂 Hope you liked it too! 🙂

Building Your Website

3 / 5 / 12

I have previously posted my experience on how I came up to start a blog. Starting a blog is very easy as you get to find inspirations from fellow bloggers and many things like experiences that you want to share, things that catches up your attention, bits and tidbits of information that your readers might get something informational or educational. After all things have been set-up and you have already gotten up a series of posts and then you suddenly ask a question, “what’s next?”

Now you got to know how to build a website and strengthen its position. After getting the services of dome free blogging platform, you may want to get up to the next level by finding a reliable host provider for your blog. This would open other great opportunity for your blog to become more stable and venture into a more wider range of other activities like monetization and online marketing in the future.

You may also look into beautifying you blog by getting a nice layout or design. Don’t be afraid to do some trial and error until you find a satisfying result that would give your blog the design that would really actually fit the overall theme of your blog. The design is important because this will be the very first thing that readers get to noticed.

Unique and quality content comes next, readers will come back if they find your blog enjoyable, educational and informative to read. Blog away and enjoy the experience, just never to forget to find other things that you think can be of help to strengthen you blog and gain its own space into the worldwide web.

On Monetizing Your Blog

3 / 3 / 12

images

Blogging has indeed open many gateways of opportunity, be it for personal and business reasons. Being able to express and share some personal side of yourself and gain friends from different parts of the world through blogging is one perks that you get out of it while getting paid out of the things that you love is just another cherry on top of the cake!

I am actually excited when I first learned that one can actually earn through it. A little bit of research and getting views and opinions from fellow blogger, I was able to find Ways on How To Make Money Online.

  • Get paid to write articles/ Post Sponsorship. with some link inclusion pointing to an advertiser’s website. I actually applied to numerous paid to blog sites before and still writing for some of them until now.
  • Google Adsense. You got to have some traffic on your website to generate a good flow of income here.
  • Text Link Ads. This is one of my favorite way of earning easy money as you only have to put it on your side bar and you’ll be getting paid depending on the contract/ agreement  on the amount and how long it will stay live over a period of time on your site.
  • Banner Ads. putting up an ads with image, rate depends on the size and other factors depending upon the agreement w/ the advert.
  • Joining in some blog contest and giveaways. Have some fun to earn an extra $$$ or any material things like gadgets, bags, cosmetics, etc.

These are just some of the most known and effective way to earn from your blogs. You just got to work a little harder on gaining followers and increase readership, Page rank, and other blogging criteria’s and you’re good to go and sure enough to make money flow into your blog.

How To Start a Blog

3 / 3 / 12

It has been four years since the birth of this blog and through the years, I was able to set up another three that focuses on different topics and have finally ventured into blog monetization.

Let me go through some memory down the lane on how I was able to come up with this blog and how it was able to gain a space into the blogosphere.

I was at the office and surfing the net when I stumble upon a blog entry that catches up my attention, I enjoyed reading and can relate to most of the entries that she had put into her so called “online diary”. So there came the need of wanting to put up my very own and jot down my thoughts through blogging.

So here are some few steps I took on how to start a blog

  1. Register to a blogging platform. Setting up my very first was through a free blogging platform, BLOGGER. After quite sometime, I was able to avail my very own domain.
  2. Choose title for your blog. My Life in this Wonderful World tops off among other the other titles   have in mind as it really mirrors every activities and milestones in my life.
  3. Choose a template. Dressing up your blog is one of the important factors that you have to consider when blogging.  You can choose the layout, colors according to your preference.
  4. Create your first ever blog entry. I remember feeling like a student introducing myself in front of the class and telling everyone something about myself. Somehow, that’s how I introduced my blog to my very limited readers back then.
  5. Decide if you’ll go self hosted or remain into free blogging platform. There are many factors to consider when going through some changes like getting a host for your blog, a fee to pay the hosting, ranks and other blogging criteria when you decide to shift and venture your blogs into monetization after a while.

Gaining and meeting online friends, the sense of fulfillment are one of the benefits that you can get out of blogging. Going through my back post was really an enjoyable experience as I get to read how I documented important milestones and events of my life in this wonderful world!

New Theme

3 / 6 / 11

For the nth time, I changed this blog theme again. lol! I am not yet done tweaking some codes of the font colors, etc. But I am more comfortable with this one for now. I’ll save enough budget soon so I can buy this theme without the footer links ;D I slept early last night to do some tasks but the bed weather didn’t wake me up in time. So I am now off to finish them all today alongside with some household chores. Tomorrow will be the start of another work week and I want to be task free by then so I wont rush things out on my day work.

here’s my previous theme paper art by Ghillie Suit

Managing My Blogs

1 / 8 / 11

I wasn’t able to follow my supposed to be plans for my websites and other online activity  last holiday vacation. Offline activities caught me up most of the time- family reunions, shopping, parties to attend to so couldn’t do much online. Now, I have no choice but to squeeze in during my weekdays schedule and juggle my time between them.

Summing up my to do’s for my online tasks goes:

  • Update my blogs with some personal and quality post. (I hope to deliver on these two)
  • Find new and effective themes for my other blogs
  • Check on my domain and hosting renewals schedule
  • See if I can manage to enroll my sites to a pci compliance hosting, still got to research more on the benefits on this and see how things go around.
  • My pending Photo books making
  • Clear off some clutter (codings, broken links, etc) on my blogs.
  • Adding up another baby (new blog) a niche on shopping perhaps. ( Hope to this soon :D)
