3 Hot Brands You Need to Keep an Eye on This Summer

With all the fashion brands restructuring, merging, closing, totally re-branding, and changing direction recently, it can be difficult to stay on top of recent changes in the industry. But a whole slew of new designers is here to take the fashion world by storm with a fresh new outlook and approach. Here are some of the hottest up and coming fashion brands to keep an eye on in 2018.

Martine Rose

The British designer, which started exclusively as a men’s shirt brand, decided to branch out and create a unisex collection as well. And with the recent trend of designers creating unisex runway shows, the timing couldn’t be better. Look out for old classics with a modern look, contrasting textures, moody colours and classy wide-leg trousers. The brand has also been known for its extreme attention to detail, down to the woven label, and has been rumoured to use the French label manufacturer’s Griffes Vivienne’s selection of labels for inspiration.

Le Kilt

The Scottish brand, which is the brainchild of a traditional Kilt maker’s granddaughter, has been banking on the recent attention the traditional garment has been getting in the global media recently. However, while their signatures pieces are clearly a nod to the traditional Kilt, they’ve been taking a much more sophisticated approach lately and they’ve been moving away from a nod to a youthful clannish rebellion and more towards high end clothing.

Paul Smith

Paul Smith made his name in the industry thanks to his selection of colourful signature suits. In his own words, he didn’t want to make suits for “weddings and funerals”. Look for the usual masculine and oversized suits in shades of olive green, tan, navy and pink. And for Jet-Setters, be on the lookout for his brand-new line of non-crease suits. They’re made from wrinkle resistant high-quality wool and are available in shades of bottle green, damson, and turquoise.

Self-Portrait

Han Chong, who was previously part of Central Saint Martin’s creative team, launched a brand with the mission of creating a womenswear that would be as special as it would be accessible. He wants to make high fashion available to the masses and is making sure that his pieces remain affordable.

Cocktail dresses are where the label excels, and it has become their go-to piece in the most recent years. However, they have been adding smart trousers, statement shirts, and lace skirts to their collection. They also have created an alternative bridal collection which provides a new twist on the old classic. This collection in particular has been gaining them a lot of attention and isn’t a departure from their signature aesthetic of interesting cuts and guipure lace. The Duchess of Cambridge and ex first Lady Michelle Obama are said to be big fans of the collection, which can only be a good thing.

All these brands should be making waves this summer and you can expect to hear more about them in the coming months.
